CropTopia 2007 Instructors

Kim

Kim Tye:

Hi, my name is Kim Tye and I have attended Croptopia the past 5 years and yet this is my first year facilitating a class.  I have 14 years experience teaching young children and 2 years training adults.  I have been married to my husband Mark for almost 16 years and we have 2 beautiful children.  Our son Hunter is 14 and our daughter Olivia is 10 1/2

Patricia Cole:

Patricia has been an avid scrapbooker for 5 years. Her favourite subjects to scrapbook are her beautiful boys and her 4 fur babies. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her supplies to create beautiful new projects.

Suzanne Pilkington

Hi, my name is Suzanne. I have been married for almost 10 years and have two beautiful daughters, Hannah 8 and Grace 4. This is my third year at CropTopia and my first time teaching a class. I have been a casual scapbooker for 8 years and a very avid shopper for supplies for just as long. I think I could run my own store from my scrap room...I have just introduced Hannah to scrapbooking and she loves it! I have been an Educational Assistant for 11 years, working with Students who have various special needs. I am looking forward to another relaxing weekend at beautiful Camp Iawah and look forward to meeting you all!

Lisa Samra:
Lisa has been dabbling in scrapbooking on and off over the last 6 years. She originally got involved to help her mom (Susan) in her scrapbooking business. At all day crops in Munster she taught beginner’s classes and prepared everyone’s lunches. In her own scrapbooking she creates basic pages that include clean lines and journaling. She enjoys paper crafting in general and makes cards and gift bags every time she needs a present for someone. Like most of us she loves to collect supplies and she is always planning to start her wedding album. Much of her time is taken up with her son Gabriel, who is now 2 years old. She joined the CropTopia staff in 2004 and will again this year keep our class schedule running smoothly.

Favourite things: Lisa loves purple and all things POOH.

Three words that describe Lisa: patient, kind and fun loving.

Susan Irvine:
I am a WAHM. I have 4 grown children who are all married now and I have 10 grandchildren. I enjoy teaching and homesechooled two of my children. I am now living in Dartmouth Nova Scotia so spend alot of time traveling to visit with my grandchildren in Ottawa and Victoria.
I Croptopia Scrapboking INC jointly with my son. It is a great business and we love scouting out new products for the Canadian market.
I have been scrapping safely for at least 14 years. I have always kept photo albums and journals, so it was just a matter of joining the two passtimes together. I started as a consultant with a home base businesss and have always been happy to share my love of scrapbooking with others. I am happiest when I am working with cardstock only but I dabble in all the embellishments from time to time.
One of my favourite paper manufacturers is Reminders Of Faith. With their wonderful papers I can combine my love of scrapbooking with my strong faith in God. It is important to me to leave my children and grandchildren a glimpse of who I am and what I believe, not just an album of what we did and where we went in life.
I have been involved with CropTopia, one way or another, for 8 years and look forward to many years to come.

Suzanne Gatenby:

I have been scrapbooking the more creative, acid-free way for the past 8 years. I am totally addicted to patterned papers but love all those cardstocks too. This is my 7th year for attending CropTopia and I am very excited about teaching for the 6th year. My husband and I have the house to ourselves now that our 2 children are grown. This gives way for more space for my supplies. Our 6 year old granddaughter asked one day, “Didn’t my daddy have a room when he lived here with you and Grandpa?”…  “Oh yes sweetie, but now it’s my Scrapbook Room”, was my reply.  She was somewhat concerned until I told her she could help use my supplies!  Our 3 little granddaughters and my new yellow lab puppy are the main focus in my layout pages these days. My love for quilting has overflowed onto my scrapbook pages so I will again be offering a quilt page layout - along with 2 other classes.  Be sure to check them out.  Can’t wait to meet and greet!!  Those who know me know I enjoy visiting!!!

Veronica Reis:
I am a mommy to two beautiful son's, Tristan (4 year old) and Ethan (7 months). Married to my grade school sweetheart, Steve for the last six years. We started going out when we were 15 and have been together for a total of 14 years.
I run my own business of fresh floral design. I help many brides and grooms plan beautiful flowers for their very special day. I was trained in the (computer) networking field but am currently working as a professional mom, wife and small business owner. I also teach at Michael's (Hwy 7 & Weston Rd) for the last 3 years. I started scrapbooking in 1998 and was introduced to Creative Memories. I did a few layouts and decided that it was not for me. Then I started at it again and put my own designs and thoughts into my work. Since then it's been eating, sleeping and breathing scrapbooking. I have other hobbies (cooking, baking, painting, and floral design), but this one, scrapbooking, is now holding me a willing hostage.
My husband, Steve, is very supportive. My family and friends think this is a wonderful thing that I am doing for my boys. One day they will be able to look back at all their memories and know that they had a wonderful time growing up.
I myself am a very talkative, passionate, and caring person. If you need anything I would be the first to help in anyway, shape or form. I enjoy talking to people and getting to know their history. Everyone has a story.

Glenda Pinault

:

Hi all!  I'm Glenda Pinault and I am so very excited to be teaching a class at Croptopia this year!  This will be my 4th
year and I can't wait!  I have been scrapping for 5 official years now, but my love of memories reaches way back to my
yearbook days! I am an Educational Assistant by day, and a teacher at Scrapbooks & Smiles by night!  My wacky life with
my 2 kids gives me LOTS of inspiration.  Looking forward to meeting you all!

Paula Mason:

Hi, my name is Paula Mason and I am the owner of Scrapbooks and Smiles in Trenton, Ontario. This is my 6th year attending Croptopia and my 4th year providing a lot of the merchandise you see in the Camp Store!   This is the first year I am teaching a class at Croptopia, however I have taught an endless number of classes at my own store!   I usually like to spend Croptopia weekend doing my own scrapbooking, as being a store owner leaves little time to tackle your own scrapbooks!  But I am happy to be teaching this year, based on an awesome layout designed by Ninabrook Designs!

Rebecca Montsion:   Rebecca will be our make and take teacher this year.  This will be her second year at CropTopia.  She is presently studying design at Algonguin College in Ottawa.  Her cheery smile will keep us all encouraged over the weekend.
